2020 RBC Heritage Rankings, Projections, and Targets

2020 RBC Heritage Rankings, Projections, and Targets from Each Range

Jun 17, 2020

With a packed field of premier talent, the 2020 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town will be one to watch. The tight tree-lined fairways will force most to club down and keep it in position for their second shots. With bombers like Rory, Brooks, Bryson, Jon Rahm, DJ, and JT we will see if they are forced to take the driver out of hand or turn Harbour Town into a bomb fest like they did Colonial.

With the talented field at this week’s RBC Heritage, I don’t believe we will see this tournament produce a first time PGA tour event winner like we’ve seen in the past. Of the 154-player field, 114 already have a PGA tour win under their belt. We have the top 5 players in the world making the trip and will be interesting to see the battle at the top of the leaderboard. It should be another fight to the finish like we saw last week at Colonial.

Course history and course experience could play a huge part in determining this weeks winner, as the short 7100 yard course has shown in the past. Knowing where to hit the ball off the tee to get the right angle for your second shot will prove to be crucial. The field must put themselves in good positions to attack these smaller greens on their second shots, this is where that experience will give the guys who’ve played here often a competitive edge.

The conditions should be pretty calm this week, as they are playing Harbour Town two months later than they normally would. The temperature will be warmer which should add some distance, but there will always be coastal winds, which can create problems attacking the small greens.

$10,000+ Range

Rory-McIlroy 2020 RBC Heritage

Rory Mcilroy

Even with the melt down on the front 9 of Sundays round, not ever playing Harbour Town, look for Mcilroy to leave his mark. If anyone can cut the corners and turn this course into a bomb and wedge fest it will be Rory. Even if he doesn’t go driver, he can get hot with the irons. If he’s making putts he will be the outright leader at the end of the week.

Other Targets From This Range

Justin Thomas – $10,900 | Jon Rahm – $10,500 | Collin Morikawa – $10,000

$9,000 Range

Webb Simpson 2020 RBC Heritage

Webb Simpson

Webb’s first round last week was horrible but seeing him come back on Friday and bouncing back is enough for me to go right back to him. Webb’s game fits Harbour Town perfectly. Keep yourself in good position off the tee, be lights out with the irons, and make some putts. Webb lost strokes to the field last week, but put him back on Bermuda grass, his favorite putting surface, and I think we see him gaining strokes on the green this week.

Other Targets From This Range

Sungjae Im – $9,700

$8,000 Range

patrick reed 2020 RBC Heritage

Patrick Reed

Patrick Reed had another fantastic putting display that led him to another top 10 finish at a tie for 7th. He led the field in DraftKings points, excluding the points you get from finish position. The guy always seems to get hot with his putter in every single round. He’s a guy that can handle the wind with a low-ball flight and if he misses a green, he has great touch around the greens to save par. Look for Patrick Reed at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.

Other Targets From This Range

Brooks Koepka – $8,600 | Gary Woodland – $8,400 | Matt Kuchar – $8,300 | Tyrell Hatton – $8,000

$7,000 Range

ian poulter 2020 RBC Heritage

Ian Poulter

Harbour Town really fits Ian Poulters game, and he has great course history here. He can get hot with the irons and putter, especially on Bermuda Greens. He’ll benefit from the short track here and a lot of the bombers having to take driver out of their hands. He’s ranked 3rd in SG:Total at this course over the last 5 years, according to Fantasy National Golf Club. In 2019 he finished T10, 2018 he finished T7, and in 2017 he finished T11. Look for him to finish near the top again!

Other Targets From This Range

Matthew Fitzpatrick – $7,900 | Louis Oosthuizen – $7,700 | Kevin Kisner – $7,700 | Victor Hovland – $7,600 | JT Poston – $7,500 | Harris English – $7,300 | Adam Hadwin – $7,300

$6,000 Range

Matthew Nesmith 2020 RBC Heritage

Matthew Nesmith

Nesmith has been playing incredibly well as of late and is another guy that this course sets up perfectly for. Not a really long hitter off the tee but can catch fire with his irons. He’s a local guy and we know he’ll be used to the coastal conditions in South Carolina. He was on fire before the pandemic and continued to work on his game during the break. He played well at the Charles Schwab and expect to see his game improve this week as this course fits him even better than Colonial.

Other Targets From This Range

Erik Van Rooyen – $6,600 | Emiliano Grillo – $6,800 | Brian Stuard – $6,600 | Sam Burns – $6,600 | Denny McCarthy – $6,200 | Patrick Rodgers – $6,900
